I will arriving in Paris this coming Sunday the 19th of Feb. I will have my two grandchildren with me. Our hotel is located near the Eiffel Tower. What are my options? Is a taxi the best? And what should I expect to pay for it?
Are you arriving by train? Air?
And how old are your grandchildren?
Taxi. Yes, the RER and metro are fine, but with three people you will only pay about 10 euros more to take a taxi. With the RER you will have to transfer to the metro ,, so just more walking and hauling your stuff and kids along. Taxi should run about 50 euros,, give or take a bit.
Thanks for replies to my query. I decided to buy airport transfers through Viatour. It was around 77usd for the 3 of us, so that seemed reasonable. We will be beat coming into the city, so I want to be safe and not have to think too much..... I also bougt Paris Passes. I hope that we can utilize these to the fullest. I see that the Pass includes admission to Versaille. How do you get to Versaille?
Pat in Lynn Do you have access to the RS Paris book? He gives a really clear description of the way to get to Versailles without getting lost or going to the wrong station.
I am off this am to pick up RS book. Every library around me was out....is everyone going to Paris! I just want to be safe with me being the only adult. Thanks for your posts.
Hello. We have stayed in Paris twice. We have had our hotel book us taxis in advance to/from the airport. It has always worked out for us. The taxi driver meets us at the train or airport and takes us to the taxis.
Well just so know you saved no money by booking with Viatour( which is just a middle man agency, not a tour company after all) ,, 77 us dollars equals about 58 euros, and a taxi for all three would have been between 50-60 euros at most. What I would like to know is who Viatour uses for their airport transfers so I hope you let us know how that goes, it may help someone else .
I would take a taxi which is located outside of any terminal you land. With luggage and 2 grandchildren taxi is the best option unless the grandchildren are old enough to carry the luggage on the train/metro. In addition the paris metro's are not luggage friendly with most having a significant number of steps both up and down.
