I will be traveling to Newbury, England next month with my mother. I have read online that there is usually a line of taxis outside of the train station but those comments have been mostly related to people going to visit Highclere Castle. As we will be traveling after Highclere has closed to tours for the season I was curious if there are still taxis at the station throughout the year? We will be arriving in Newbury after 6pm on a Wednesday so I was unsure if I should arrange transportation to our hotel ahead of time or if it is reasonable to expect to catch a taxi on arrival. Thanks for any help!
Newbury is a fairly large place, and although it's not a major station it is easily within commuting distance of London, so at that time on a Wednesday there will be a lot of people travelling through and I'd say there is a very good chance of taxis being there. Here's what Google Streetview captured at the taxi rank outside the station, one day in June 2009: http://goo.gl/maps/sCkDB
Awesome! Thanks Kevin!
