Taxi from Airport in Florence

We will be arriving in Florence in the morning & considering taking a taxi to our hotel. The hotel is located on Via Calziuoli (sp?) close to the Duomo. It is a pedestrian area - are taxis allowed, or should we get dropped maybe at the train station?

As I remember, a taxi was about 25-30 euros. May have gone up since I was last there.

Thanks!

If you pack light, you could also take a.city bus. Florence is a very compact city and.pretty much walkable within the city center.

Consider taking the taxi, you probably recall that it is a flat rate from the airport. My experience has been that the driver will scoot you in as close to your hotel as possible if she does not have access to the doorstep.

We got in very late into Florence and the taxi was very efficient and took us quickly to our apartment near the Duomo, for a very small cost.

We took a taxi after arriving in the evening from an international flight. The taxis are waiting just outside the terminal and have a flat rate from the airport to the city. I did see shuttle buses waiting, too. Since it was dark and we were not familiar with the city, we preferred the taxi which took us directly to our hotel.

Upon leaving Florence, we walked to the bus station and took the shuttle to the airport. Easy to do in the daytime once we were familiar with the city and not jet lagged.

I'd take a taxi. They will drop you off as close as possible to your hotel. The fare sounds about right for my last visit, but I seem to recall it's a fixed rate - airport to city center - yes?

My last hotel in Florence was near the Duomo and my departure taxi literally was able to come to the front door of my hotel. That won't work for every street, of course, but my pre-arranged driver upon arrival only managed the street next to the hotel. YMMV.
