Can anyone tell me the current taxi fare from CDG to central Paris (2012)? Thanks
Hi, "neighbor". Since the meter will be running, the fare will be affected by traffic conditions. However, the official Aeroports de Paris site says you should expect to pay around €50.00 for a ride from CDG to the center of Paris.
thanks for your quick & informative response "neighbor". on past trips, we've always taken the Roissy bus/metro combo. but this time we're doing a Paris stop-over after 4 days of jet-lagged partying at a wedding event. the bus/metro combo is out for sure! and airport pickup to our exact destination has been offered from a reliable Parisian... for 120E. it "seems" like a lot of money to pay... but it might very well be worth it. particularly if the 50E taxi fare might be pretty much a best case scenario kind of quote. any recommendations?
Also note they are legally allowed to charge one euro per suitcase extra.. on top of metered fare. Fare will run from 45-55 euros based on traffic , time of day, and exact destination. Extra 3-4 euros for fourth passenger is also legal. They are pretty fair.
Only take taxis from the taxi stand, not the guys who approach you , they will end up ripping you off. Taxi Parisien are licensed and regulated.
thanks Pat & Tim i've been doing a bit of research on reviews of the CDG<->Paris shuttle services that sound promising too. hmmmm. guess all that's left to do is decide. thanks again... your insights have been helpful.
Karin, we found it was a hassle trying to find the shuttle so now we just head right to the taxi stand and save an hour! (Okay, maybe it was just 1/2 an hour but we were exhausted and it just seemed like forever!)
I usually budget 60 euros. 120 is a ripoff unless they're bringing a bus for 50 or 60 people . . . The odd thing is that even if you're stuck in traffic, it doesn't seem like the meter moves upward that quickly. Where I work people take taxis into the city from CDG all the time, and I have never heard of a fare even remotely approaching €120.
PLease be careful using a shuttle bus service ,, they are constantly badly reviewed,, at very least choose one that you don't have to prepay. I have used inter-shuttle and they have been reliable for me two times I used them, but I have read others say they were stood up. They are a private car service, not a shared shuttle bus. They also do not take your credit card info or pre charge you, so in worst case scenerio you are not out any money at least. Taxi really is 100% reliable and safe, they would be my normal choice if not taking the RER ( which I do if not with children), and when I did use the shuttle company it was because of a transport strike , knew taxis would have long long line! Took taxi this past summer, 52 euros, and a few minutes in line at the taxi rank, reliable and easy. Sorry, no way in heck would I pay 120 euros,, that is a rip off. Keep in mind that is more then double the taxi rate and a taxi goes door to door too. ( unless as someone said its for a stretch limo for 8 or more people! ) . Also note there are taxis that can transport up to 6 people.
Thanks everyone for your great advice. You were SO right about taxi service being the most efficient & reliable option. Taxi service to & from CDG Paris was absolutely great! Cost for the taxi from CDG to the 6th Arr was 63E & the return ride was 65E, since both trips were during very heavy rush hour traffic (4p.m. Mon & 9a.m. Sat). Both taxi drivers were very courteous, professional & really good at making their way thru all the traffic. Monday traffic was terrible getting INTO Paris, Sat traffic was light on the roads but crazy busy AT the airport. The taxi queue @ CDG was very easy to locate upon our arrival and we waited in line less than 5 minutes for our taxi. For our return to CDG from the 6th, we made a 8 a.m. reservation with the G7 Taxi Company, using their special phone number for English speaking customers. Driver arrived right on time, was very professional & cordial and had a VERY, comfortable car with the day's newspaper in the back for us to peruse. Your advice saved us a ton of dough and made the trips effortless. MERCI BEAUCOUP!
Karin thanks for sharing what you did, what it cost, etc.
Yes, thanks for coming back and reporting the real deal (I love being right!). :)
