Have 920 am flight on Sunday Nov 17, first bus Etna transportation departs 745am and first trenitalia departs 756 am. They will not get me to airport by 820 am, any suggestions
A taxi from Ortigia to CTA this past April cost two of us 50E total, I believe. (I'll check that amount this evening and correct it if it's wrong.) It's 67 km from Taormina to CTA, and 64 km from Ortigia to CTA, according to google maps ... basically the same distance. So, if you can budget it, a pre-arranged taxi might be another option.
Yes, a taxi is your only easy option, other than changing hotels to be closer to the airport your last night. If it's only €50 for a taxi as the above post suggests, I'd just do that.
When I stayed in Taormina the hotel arranged for a young man to pick me up in Catania at the airport. I haven''t tried it in the reverse direction though.
We used a driver service to CTA arranged by our Taormina hotel, agency is Sicily Life.
CTA was much more crowded and confusing than PMO, long lines to check in late October on a weekday.
I also used Sicily Life. English speaking driver's. Very good service.
Just checked my journal from April 2019. We paid 50 euros for an early morning taxi from our Ortigia hotel (Domus Mariae Albergo) to the Catania airport, for two people plus a couple of roller bags. Hotel arranged the taxi on the previous day. We had booked the taxi to just take us to the Siracusa bus station where we were going to get on the airport shuttle, but once we were in the taxi, the driver said he would take us to CTA for 50 euros. We quickly did the math and said yes.
