What is the best way to get to Taormina from the ship port in Messina. I heard there is a cable car up the mountain but can't find out a way to get to the parking lot to pick up the cable car. Or am i missing the boat all together and should I be looking at a whole different option????

Joanna: No doubt there are buses from Messina to Taormina, and there will be taxis at the port to take you to the bus station. If you google SITA buses you may get the info you need. The bus terminal in Taormina is walking distance to the town centre. I don't understand what you mean by "cable car up the mountain". There is a small cable car whatsit that runs down to the beach area from the town, but there is no mountain.
