Swiss Rail Pass/Eurail question

Hi everyone,
We are going to Italy for 1 week and Switzerland for 1 week. Should I get a Eurail pass AND a Swiss pass? Are there trains that the Eurail pass does NOT cover?

If you're traveling to the Berner Oberland region, Eurail only gets you a 25% discount past Interlaken. The Swiss Pass covers that, in addition you get a 50% discount aboove Murren/Wengen/Grindlewald. Not to mention the discount at Jungfrau and Schithorn. Click the "railpasses" tab at the top of this page. There is a handy chart comparing Eurail to the various Swiss Passes.

Thank you! Having read the other posts, it seems that a good option would be Swiss Pass for Switzerland and just day-by-day train passes for Italy. Is that right? Or do you think a Eurail would be at all beneficial?

I love the Swiss Pass and IMO it's a must for anyone traveling through Switzerland. The Eurail isn't as good a deal as it used to be, for just one week in Italy it may be more economical to simply purchase tickets as you go. A lot depends on how much your moving around though.
