We are flying in to Milan on our way to Switzerland. We will take a bus to Stresa Italy and spend a night there. We will then take the train to Lausanne and begin our Swiss tour. If we purchase a Swiss rail pass will it cover the rail trip from Stresa to Lausanne?
Usually not. Purchase a ticket from Stress to the Swiss border....then your Rail Pass will kick in.
The Swiss pass may cover you from Domodossola into Switzerland. I know that the Swiss pass is good to Domodossola coming south into Italy because its a transfer point to Locarno which is back in Switzerland. I'm just not sure about coming north and not coming from Locarno. The Swiss synoptic route map showing active routes does show Domodossolo. You can see this map on www.sbb.ch/en/index.htm.
