Swiss Pass vs. Flexi Pass

My wife and I plan on traveling by train within Switzerland for 3 consecutive days. It looks like the Swiss Pass (for 3 consecutive days) is $488 total, and the Flexi Pass (for 3 days in one month) is $460. It appears the better option is the Flexi Pass since it is less expensive, but I am curious if you can travel on consecutive days with it. If so, why wouldn't everyone prefer this pass over the Swiss Pass since it is cheaper and covers the same thing? Are there other benefits to the Swiss Pass over the Flexi Pass? Thanks!

I am curios where you saw those prices there is no 3-day Swiss Pass ( consecutive days), but a 3-day Flex Pass, Saver price is $244 so that would be your $488. For 3 days of travel, the Flex Pass and Swiss Pass would offer the same coverage. Mif you are traveling over a longer period, the Flex Pass offers a mix of covered and non-covered days, your choice. The non-covered days are still a 50% discount which makes it a good buy ( and usually the pass we choose). But for only 3 days of travel, even a Flex Pass may cost you more than a different pass, such as Swixx Card, or even p2p tickets. Where will you travel each day? Are you planning in spending a lot of time on trains those three days?

Thanks for the response. My prices were a little off b/c they didn't include shipping, so now I'm looking at the Flexi Pass total of $475 vs. Swiss Pass total of $495. I believe I'll go with the Swiss Pass b/c it's 4 days rather than just 3 days. We will be Zurich, then train to the Alps for 2 nights (will probably stay at different locations, but havent decided just where yet -- most likely Gimmelwald or Lucerne and Zermatt), then Geneva for 1 night, then train to Geneva airport. I am starting to think the 4 day would make more sense b/c we could use it to get to the airport on the last day in Switzerland.

Also, the website for the Swiss Pass does an airport pickup at Zurich. Does anyone have any experience with the airport pickup as in how long it takes on average? I'm afraid of flying in then standing in line for 2 hours to pick it up.

You can buy a Swiss or Flex Pass on this website and pay no shipping charges. Look Under Rail Passes on the blue menu bar above. That is probably preferable to buying it in Switzerland ( which may well involve some wait time, plus FTf on your credit card if it charges those). And if you need any travel gear ( luggage, etc.) you get 20% off that with the pass purchased here.

Prices on this website, with free shipping, are $88 for 2 3-Day Flex passes, versus $510 for 2 4-Day Swiss Passes. The trip from Geneva to the airport is only 3.50 CHF each, so not worth covering with an extra day on the pass (although it would save you the trouble of buying tickets for that trip). If you choose to spend your last night somewhere along the lake outside Geneva (we really liked Morges), then that 4th day would be worth it.

That's exactly what I was thinking (staying somewhere else instead of Geneva), so that 4 day might be the better option. Thanks again for being so helpful.
