I plan to fly into Geneva in mid May to spend 8 nights in Murren and then travel from Murren to Lacoste, France to meet my daughter for 4 nights and return to Geneva to fly back to the U.S. With that in mind I have determined that a 6 day Swiss Flexi Pass (for 6 days in 2nd class) is the best way for this single woman to go since it also acts as a "Half-fare" travel card. I want the option to travel around the Swiss area or stay put in Murren if I desire. Does this seem like the best choice for me?
I think that is more travel days that you need. Unless you are doing a lot of long journeys from Mürren, the 3-day flex, for $281, should be fine. That gives you travel to and from Mürren, plus one other fully-covered day, and the rest at half off (including lifts like the Schilthorn but not the Jungfraujoch train above Wengen). Compare to the 6-day Flex at $448. That is $167 more for 3 additional fully-covered days, or $56 each. Are you going to be traveling that far (spending more than $56) on that many days? Actually the comparator might be $112 for the extra travel days, as you will get them for half with the 3-day Flex anyway. In other words, say a daytrip costs $100; you will pay $56 for it if you buy the 6-day pass, and $50 for it if you use the half-off feature of the 3-day pass, so you are still ahead with the 3-day pass.
Thank you so much Lola! That makes sense. I appreciate you helping me save some money! Dawn
