Swiss Airline price drop

Our family of three will be flying roundtrip Boston to Zurich for a two week Switzerland trip in June. I looked at tickets on Swiss the first of December and they were $5,054 for three. I waited, and from December 20th until yesterday they were $5,591. I looked tonight and the total for three for Economy Saver was $4,391. I don't know if the drop is airline wide or specific to certain departure and arrival areas. I decided to purchase my tickets tonight

Airlines often make changes in airfares after the first of the year when their employees get back from the holidays. They have large departments that analyze the supply and demand of their many flights, and they decide what airfares will be in order to fill those airplanes.
You could also fly from Boston to London Gatwick for as low as $561 round trip on Icelandair and take EasyJet.com down to Switzerland for $125 or so round trip.

Dave,
I had looked at Icelandair when I had seen the Swiss prices go up. We were thinking about going a little earlier and spending a day or two in Iceland and continuing on. Time constraints for work at the beginning didn't really allow it though. We decided to go the easy route with a non-stop round trip but Icelandair did have good pricing.
