Best way to get from Denmark to Stockholm Central. Reading reviews on SJ Trains not very positive. Tickets are all ready getting sold out for a Sept. 23 departure?! Advice...
I have never read a review on a train trip, and I have never even considered writing one. So no matter where you're reading them, you're probably getting a very biased view from people who were angry about something.
Best way to get from Denmark to Stockholm depends very much on where in Denmark you are, but there is no reason to worry about SJ.
Departing Copenhagen central station to Stockholm central.
We used SJ trains quite a lot on two trips - 2022 and 2024. We have never had an issue.
In that case, just buy a train ticket. There is no reason to worry. As far I can see, some departures are sold out but the direct trains are not open for booking yet.
Copenhagen central to Stockholm there is only SJ. So that is who you travel on when you travel by train. And the trains are perfectly fine. The bad reviews are just from people who need to vent something. People who had normal, uneventful trips (the vast majority) will not write reviews.
I am 100% certain that non of the train on sep 23 are sold out. Train do not sell out months in advance. If they did, they would be useless. What you are seeing is that trains for that day probably have not all opened for booking yet. Very few people buy tickets months in advance, and so the system often is not able to distinguish well between "train sold out" and "train not open for booking yet".
The reasons some people do by tickets in advnace is that there are significant discounts to be had in advance, but you do not need to worry about not being able to get tickets even closer to departure.
Book this on www.sj.se which is the website of the company actually running the trains. Be aware that Copenhagen is "Köpenhamn" in Swedish, so you need to book from "Köpenhamn H" if you want to leave from the main station. Have a look at today and tomorrow to have an idea what availability and prices are close to departure, and look at a month from now to see what discounted fare are like.
