Net zero in aviation is best achieved by avoiding flights.
That would also reduce tourism in Europe by not less than 15% (no North or South Americans), also a good thing.
We should also avoid about a fourth of the trains (except in France) because about a fourth of Europe's energy comes from fosil fuels.
Biomass can be considered net-zero if the carbon released during its combustion is recaptured through the regrowth of plants, creating a balanced carbon cycle. Unlike fossil fuels, which release ancient carbon, biomass uses recently captured atmospheric carbon. However, achieving true net-zero status for biomass requires careful management of the entire supply chain, including sustainable harvesting, replanting, and efficient transportation, to ensure that the carbon payback period doesn't negatively impact climate goals.
Heck, that means, outside of France, only walking vacations!!!
Flights are only 4% of global emissions. We have a lot of low hanging fruit still to pick before we get to aviation...
