hi, I'l be arriving in Paris at around 9pm on a Sunday evening.I'll be getting a bus to porte mailott and then a metro to La Defense. Anyone any idea where I'l be able to stock up on basics like bread, milk etc at this time of night in either of these two areas? thanks.
Hi Ellen--I don't know about the area around la Defense, but when you get off the bus at Porte Maillot, if you take metro line one a few stops in the opposite direction (toward Chateau de Vincennes) to the George V stop, there is a Monoprix on Champs-Elysees that's open until midnight where you could buy basics.
We found most groceries were closed on Sunday early,or were not open.
Sorry, Ellen--my mistake--I didn't pay attention to the Sunday evening part of your question. The Monoprix on Champs-Elysees is closed on Sunday.
Best bet would be to find a restaurant or bistro, to have a bite on Sunday night (if you can find one!) And stock up on the essentials on the Monday. I don't think I've seen a grocery store or supermarket open on Sunday in any arrondissement in Paris. Good luck
