We will be arriving at London Heathrow(LHR) Monday night 8:30PM from Boston. Should we catch a cab or use the subway to go to our hotel near the St Pancras Station. Is it safe to travel at night by subway or are we better off riding a cab? How much for the cab and subway fare?
It's definitely safe to take the Tube. And it's easy. Take the Piccadilly Line directly from Heathrow to King's Cross/St Pancras. The cash fare is £5.30. If you buy Oyster cards and load some pay-as-you-go pounds on them, the fare will be £2.90. However, if you want door-to-door service, a private car service will be much cheaper than a taxi. Just Airports gives a discount for paying cash. St Pancras is in postal code NW1. The cash fare for a saloon (sedan) from Heathrow to anywhere in that postal code is £34.
