Student's literary tour of England

I am in the initial stages of planning a nine day Brit Lit tour of England for approx 20 high school students the first week of April, 2013. I'm thinking of a circle tour- flying into London and zipping right over to Bath (perhaps seeing the stones on the way?) would love for them to experience some of the Cotswolds and would like to take a stroll between two towns; then of course to Stratford, Warwick Castle, up to Yorkshire to pay a visit to Heathcliff, perhaps Oxford and then finishing up in London. Any suggestions about the best way to transport this many students to these locations? I have made similar trips with my own family; but twenty kiddo's is a bit different! =) Thanks for your input!

You've taken on an ambitious project. I don't think you want to be responsible for driving them, and a private coach is probably prohibitive in expense. So that means train. You might want to post on the "North" board where there are people who can help with UK train travel. Looks like an 8-day Youth Pass from BritRail would cost $285 each, not too bad.

Obvious;ly if you had a coach, they would all be corraled in one place rather than possibly spread over a train. However, you would need a professional driver. Not cheap Any possibility of making arrangements with a school (or school district) in England ?

My gut reaction is that this is way, way too ambitious. With the number of destinations and the distance you'll be covering, you and the youths will be exhausted, unable to really experience the destinations you want, and getting on each others nerves and those of the people who have to sit near you on the trains. I would suggest staying in one place and making a couple of day trips out to places that are relatively close. For instance, you could stay in Stratford, from where you can make day trips easily to Warwick, Oxford, or the Cotswolds. Or London: Shakespeare's Globe, the British Library, day trips to Oxford and Rochester for the Dickens locations... But don't try and do the whole of England in a week.

Thanks so much for your suggestions! I think I will concentrate on four areas: Bath, Stratford, Yorkshire (we spend a great deal of time in Wuthering Heights) and then finish in London. I am going to look into hiring a coach for each leg of the journey but would rather not retain the coach and driver for our lay- over days. Any suggestions?
