storing bags at European train stations for a few days

How easy is it to store your bag at a train station for a few days. We are thinking of hiking for a few days with small day packs and trying to store our main bag at a train station in Germanu ie Leubeck for few days . Is that possible . Is there a baggage area or locker ususally availlble for this knid of thing?

Well it probably depends on the train station...some have "left luggage" offices where you can actually check your bag in for a fee( per hour or day I think ), while others have storage lockers( large and small) where you can deposit your bag( insert coins to remove )...I think you'd need to try and contact someone in that specific station to see what services they have...

Last year at Gare du Nord the checked baggage office was FULL and stayed full for over 3 hours....finally when we became 1st in line, a group of girls came in and were vacating a large locker - even though we needed a smaller one we took it. We also left the office with a stack of unused metro tickets the girls failed to use along with a few others who donated theirs!

Rita, I know your question has to do specifically with Lübeck Hbf and its lockers. The coin lockers are there. The difference between train stations in Germany and stations in France is that coin lockers don't exist in French train stations, ever since the mid-1990s or so. Twenty-five years ago coin lockers were available at Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est...all gone. You have to use the left luggage facility.
