Still yet more on fares

"Airlines are perpetually tweaking prices, making predictions difficult. Expedia said as much in its report. Even though its latest research asserts that weekends have the best fares, consumers who spot a good deal on Thursday shouldn’t wait until Saturday to buy it with the hope that the price will tumble even further. “If you find a fare that looks like a good deal, grab it,” the report said, “regardless of the day of week.”"

Not sure there's anything new here. People here have always advocated purchasing when you find an acceptable fare - don't wait and don't look back.

Well no, there were X weeks/months in advance rules of thumb recommended for the longest time. And now they are gone.

I still see the odd "wait until a Tuesday" to buy advice. The fare sales begin on Tuesday/Wednesday was true 20 years ago. Now it's not, but the myth continues.

(Back before the pricing was done by computers on Monday morning airline executives would look over the prior week sales and make decisions on "what we need to do", that pricing would be pushed out to the reservation agents Monday night or Tuesday and... sales started Tuesday and Wednesday)
