Hello.
I wanted to get an overnight train ticket for this route in August. Can I do this online somewhere, or should I wait until I'm in St. Petersburg? I worry if I wait till I'm there I may not be able to get an overnight ticket. Thanks.

Are you using a travel company to arrange your trip? If so, this is probably the best option, since Russian entrance and exit visas are, to put it mildly, somewhat Byzantine.

I'm not using a travel company at this point. If that's the only reliable way to get train tickets from the states, I may though.

For overnight trains within Russia, you shouldn't have much problem buying them while in St. Petersburg. Leaving the country by train, however, can be a bit of a problem if there is a conflict with your visa information. My advice? Contact a travel agency that specializes in travel to Russia. I used a company called "White Nights" and found them to be very helpful. Here's the website:
