Hello! What would be the best way to travel from Edinburgh to St. Andrews for a day trip?? Thank you, Natalie
We drove but St. Andrews is served by train then bus. The sights are all walkable and there are guided walking tours offered. t seems to me we stopped and toured a small castle/palace - I can't remember the name of it - started with a P I think. Anyway for us 1/2 a day in St. Andrews was plenty we had a lovely drive the area both going & returning.
I think the castle was the ruins of the "Bishop's Castle" or something like that and there are also ruins there of St. Andrews Cathedral. In addition to the city itself and the "Old Course!" Although not my thing, there is a golf museum etc., there too. Anyway, as stated above the city is easily walk-able and laid out in a nice grid.
Its been awhile, but train to Leukars and cab or bus from there to St A.
