Spending hours in a car.

We two 70 plus seniors will be driving in County Donegal in late August, early September. While we are gym workout fit, we don't want to spend most of a travel day driving. Our hub is Derry. I know I should add 30% to the drive times on Google Maps for meal stops and rest breaks. Assuming 12 hours of daylight (no night driving for Kathleen!!) can anyone suggest an itinerary that includes Sliebh Liag (for a photo op), Malin Beg for a picnic, and the Gweedore region (need a suggestion of which town to stop in for donner after 6pm), Other day trip itineraries are welcome!

Thanks!!

We enjoyed our drive to Fanad Head (we drove along the coast: Rathmullan, Ramelton) and especially going up to Malin Head (again, I think we travelled some on the coast, not central peninsula so not sure of comparison) on the other peninsula. I don't remember all the little towns we stopped in on the way.

As I have Ulster Scot heritage, we especially enjoyed this small museum: https://www.monreaghulsterscotscentre.com/about-us/
as well as the Ulster American Folk Park, County Tyrone also about an hour away: https://www.ulsteramericanfolkpark.org/

You may want to post this in the Ireland section with an amended title to include Donegal.
