speeding fine in the UK

After having returned about 2 weeks from enjoyable trip to England, I have recieved a Notice of intended prosecution via my car rental company Alamo for going at 36 mph in an area of 30 mph.

From what I understand my car rental company has passed on my personal information to the police. They have sent me an invoice to charge me an admin fee of 27GBP though the charge amount recorded on the invoice is 0 GBP. I suppose the Thames Police has yet to fine me?

Anybody here can share with me what will happen next? What are the procedures? Am I supposed to contact the Thames police or will they be sending me a charge? what is the speeding fines like? If fined how am I supposed to pay the fine? By credit card? Will there be demerit points on my local Singapore driving license

thanks to all for any advice...still had a good holiday in england though.

gordon,

One point to mention is that under the posting rules here, we're prohibited from offering any legal advice. That makes it a bit difficult to comment on your questions.

In the same circumstances, I'd probably contact them for information. You may find it helpful to have a look at this page on their web site - www.thamesvalley.police.uk/aboutus/aboutus-depts/aboutus-depts-roads/aboutus-depts-fpsu.htm as it contains some information on the procedures.

There's a phone number for non-emergency calls at the top (keep the time zone difference in mind when you call as non-emergency lines are often staffed only during business hours).

Good luck!
