Speciale Frecce fare on Trenitalia

You can't purchase a fare that requires a CartaFreccia without putting your Card number in the "Cartafreccia" Box.

To be sure, simply try to purchase the tickets you want. Is there an asterisk close to the Cartafreccia box? Can you get to the payment page leaving it blank?

I bought Speciale Frecce and this is what it says on my tickets:

Speciale Frecce: Reservation change and refund not allowed. Limited seats

I have exactly the same question here, I am trying to purchase my tickets selecting the option "SPECIALE FRECCE" but I am afraid any local credit or debit card is required (which I dont have).

Coudl you please confirm if you have travelled succesfully selecting that option? or you were required in the moment to present some card in the train?

The only card required to purchase some discounted tickets is Trenitalia's fidelity card, called Carta Freccia. It isn't "a local credit card", it's a fidelity card.

In such cases trenitalia.com requires customers to digit their Carta Freccia Card number to complete the sale. Try and see by yourself what happens if there is a Carta Freccia box and you leave it blank.

Trenitalia couldn't care less about where your credit/ debit cards were issued. Rest assured that in case of payment problems they would simply deny the purchase.
