Spain transportation

I want to travel from Granada,Spain to the Basque region by air, most likely to Bilbao. I think my best bet is to get to the Malaga airport, where I can get a non-stop flight to Bilbao.
what is the quickest way from Granada to the Malaga airport.
Car, bus or train ? there may be mountains in the area that make direct train service a bit tricky.
thanks

If you already have a rental car, choose to drop it off at Malaga airport...that'll be the fastest way. But renting a car solely for that trip (less than 2 hours) will be expensive.
There's no train option, but there are abou 20 buses/day between Granada and Malaga. It's a 2 hour journey at less than 10 Euro pp, and intercity buses in Spain are modern and comfortable. None that I am aware of stop at the airport, since it's actually west of downtown, while buses from Granada come in from the north. However, the bus station is right next to the train station, so you simply have to purchase a couple of cheap tickets on the Cercanias commuter train to get to the airport.

Wonderful, thanks for the quick reply and very useful info. I will look this over and we may fly from Granada thru Madrid and then to Bilbao.
I will need to slow down my internal clock for Spanish time !!

It is easy to get to Malaga airport from Granada. As Norm said, to is an easy and pretty two hour bus ride to Malaga -- all four lanes divided. At the bus station follow the concourse away from the station for about 20\30' depending on where the bus parks, should see a big sign in English == Bus to the Airport with an arrow on the street behind the station. It is a city bus and was 1.10E last Oct and maybe thirty minutes or a little more.
