My wife and I arrive in Madrid via rail on 5/7/2016 at Madrid-Chamartin rail station. We need to transfer to Madrid-Atocha station to get our train to Toledo an hour and a half later. What's the best way? Are taxi's available? Thanks.

I remember frequent Cercania (suburban) trains linking the two stations.
Of course, taxis are always available - lots of them. The subway is also available. You will make it easy.
Cercanias should be easier as you do not even have to get out of the station. At peak times there are trains every two minutes or so.
yes and the stations are on the opposite ends of town so I'm sure that the subway/cercania is actually much faster than going through surface traffic in a taxi.
Not only should the Cercanias train be the fastest way, but if you're arriving on a train at Chamartin, you should be able to get a free ticket for the Cercanias to Atocha. There will be a code on your ticket to use at a machine, or you can go to a ticket window.
Yes, there is a code on my train ticket "combined Cercanieas". Do I plug that in the machine or is it easier to just go to the ticket office? Thank you so much for the good advise.
