I am planning our honeymoon trip to Spain. We will fly into Barcelona. Haven't decided where to fly out yet. Beyond seeing some of the sights in the standard cities, we want to spend time just enjoying smaller cities / towns with less touristy paseos, etc. I know there is a kind of allure to the local scene even in big cities like Barcelona, but we want to get away from big city feel, even if the town is actually big. Scenic beauty - human-made and natural - would be welcomed. RECOMMENDATIONS, PLEASE? We will NOT have a car. (I dislike the burden of a car, prefering to bus, train, walk.)
Don't know your time, budget or tastes but a nice route to take after your stay in Barcelona would be to make your way to Grenada - Ronda - Arcos de la Frontera - Jerez de la Frontera - Sevilla - Cordova. This will give you a taste of everything. After enjoying this tour, find your way to Madrid, enjoy some time there (a great city)and then fly home. Others will propose the northern area, this would be amazing too. Enjoy you honeymoon!!!
