SNCF Train

We have reservations for the SNCF train from Paris to Caen on Saturday, October 23 at 8:00 AM and was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to change the reservation without paying a huge fee? We would like to leave earlier than 8:00 AM if it's possible. Thanks in Advance!

If you bought standard fare tickets for the 08:02 train, then you can exchange them free of charge. However, the first train of the day departs at 07:45 and arrives in Caen only eleven minutes earlier than the 08:02 train.

I agree with Tim assessment that there would be no point to changing the reservation, but if you change it over there, it only means making a new reservation for a nominal fee. Don't try to re-reserve through RailEurope.

I doubt that you even need a reservation for that train.

Yes, I've taken this train; you do indeed need a reservation with assigned seat numbers.

The DB website that we rely on here shows that a reservation is suggested. It does not appear to be mandatory. However, experience shows that many trains leaving Paris on Saturday mornings can be >>very<< crowded. I would advise to obtain one.

But then there are many of us who never use DB. Since this is an SNCF train, I'd strongly suggest using www.sncf.com. You can change your reservation time online at this site. I've done it many times. This is the site that I use exclusively!
