I have a reservation from Warsaw to Krakow on an "EX" category train, and just discovered that I was placed in a smoking compartment. RailEurope issued the ticket and when I contacted them to change seats they claim that all Polish trains are now non-smoking. My research indicates that only the "IC" category trains are non-smoking. Has anyone traveled on a Polish train lately and was smoking allowed?

Even if smoking is prohibited, much depends on whether the rule is enforced. Many times people cheat without any penalty.
Normally each car will be labeled on the outside for smoking. Watch for it when you board. Always ask the RR employees on the platform before you board your car.
