Visiting Provence Fall,2012. Probably connecting with Auto Europe in Avignon; returning to Nice. So many cars; so many options. Hard to visual size on internet. Four adults and Rick-sized luggage+backpacks. Any counsel on best car types, sizes to navigate narrow streets? All thoughts welcome. Thanks!
My advice is to get something in which you'll all be comfortable and won't cause worries about the luggage and backpacks. Its the size that autoeurope classifies as "family" that seats five and can handle at least one, preferably 2, large and 2 small bags + 4 handbags/backpacks. Get a car with a trunk for keeping things out of sight during the day. A diesel manual will be the most economical to operate. The Ford Mondeo standard class diesel looks about right. I wouldn't worry about the size otherwise. We had a big van for six adults once and had no problems getting around towns and villages other than a couple of times squeezing into extra narrow parking spots.
Thanks, this is just the information/assurance we needed for our car rental in Provence. Appreciate it.
