We are planning our pre/post sailing/biking trip. We will not have a car, so relying on bus or train. Has anyone taken a bus from Zagreb to Plitvace National Park? Any suggestions? Did you reserve early morning tickets in advance for the bus and park? Was it easy to get around the park without a car? Any suggestions for a tour guide that provides transportation to/from Zagreb? Looking into Roundabouts In general, is it necessary to reserve bus tickets in advance to get around Croatia? Has anyone taken a ferry or bus from Split to Dubrovnik? Was it necessary to book tickets in advance? Thanks for your practical tips.
What month? In summer you might want to book some journeys. My trips were a long time ago and in May, and we booked very little.
If you come by bus to the park I think it’s best to stay in the park hotels, which are nothing to write home about but fine for a night. You’ll be on foot in the park but there is a tram, the website has maps of the various trails.
I would not see a need for a guide or driver and re ting your own car would likely be cheaper, make things slightly more convenient.
Buses between and Split and Dubrovnik are pretty much hourly. Krilo and Jadrolinija operate the catamarans.
