My husband and I have an overnight layover in the CDG airport in Paris and are debating weather to rent a hotel room or just tough it out in the airport for seven hours. Has anyone ever had the experience of being at CDG overnight? (We would pop into Paris except we don't arrive until 11pm).
Thanks for your insights!
Maren,
You could stay at the Paris Airport Sheraton, which is right inside Terminal 2 so very convenient. The rooms are probably a bit on the "pricey" side, but you'll probably be tired and will get a better sleep there than in an airport lounge.
If you'd prefer to explore the prospect of sleeping in the airport, you might get some good information by having a look at THIS WEBSITE. There are other nearby hotels listed on the website.
Happy travels!
I spend the night in airports fairly often.
Roissy is one of the better ones.
There is an Ibis hotel at CDG which would be considerably less expensive than the Sheraton.
It's pretty heavily patrolled by soldiers 24 hours. I was there one evening while they were exploding an abandoned package. Everything shuts down in case you were thinking about finding something to eat. My choice would be to take the shuttle train to Terminal 3 to the Ibis Hotel. It's a third the price of the Sheraton.
Responded same time as Norma and see that we're thinking alike.
I stayed at that Ibis a couple of times and have been very pleased. It is inexpensive, has a reasonably good café, is a short walk from the terminal, and is clean and pleasant. I think you'll be able to enjoy your first day at you destination better if you sleep in a bed versus an airport chair.
Thanks for the great recommendations, everybody! I think I will make a reservation at the Ibis and get a few good hours of sleep.
With only 7 hours you might be better to stay in the airport. You can figure the better part of an hour to get to the hotel and if you have to be back 2 hours before your flight you won't get much sleep. If you can stay in the airport inside security it will be much easier.
Several of these hotels, including Ibis, are on the airport grounds. We have stayed at the Ibis several times & it is minutes from the check in gate. IMO, 6 hours of sleep is worth the cost of a room prior to a long flight.
