Trying to figure out how to travel with a 12 year old on the Barcelona to Paris Elipsos Night Train. We would like to have a private room with a shower (gran class) but double appears to be the most...will they allow a child to stay with you in the room? Also can you get to other passenger rooms if you are not booked in the same class? For example-If I am in a sleeper berth and my friend is in a gran class can I go to her room?

Lindsay, I can't vouch for the Paris train but when we were heading to Munich from Como, they would not allow me to go to a higher class, but I was allowed to visit the lower one. I was in the sleeper car for 3 persons and my room had a bunk + sink. Our toilet and shower was down the hall only 4 sleeper rooms away, so very close by. There should be no problem with your 12 y.o. staying with you.
