yes my husband and I did about 5 years ago. We didn't preplan but went to the train station the day before we wanted to leave and got a reservation. We were in s 6 passenger car, us the 3 strangers. Two colege students from Canada and a African man. Our luggage stayed in the car with us. The toilets were down the hall. The train was full and although I thought I'd rather just take a seat somewhere, there was none. My husband and I took the lower bunks across from each other. There were clean linens and blankets on each cot. During the night when the conductor cameto check our passports as we left Germany, our Canadian companion didn't have a ticket for Austria, which you go through to get to Italy. He was sold a ticket on the spot, we all went back to sleep (kinda) The conductor collected our passports and didn't bring them back until shortly before we got to Mestra. I guess that isn't uncommon, but it was for me. The experience was fine, but I was glad to have my husband along

On what site did you find a sleep train from Munich to Venice? Maybe I've looked so much, I'm overlooking! I need one for June.

Thanks.

Gina, the Bahn's schedule webpage, http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en, will show the night train from Munich to Venice, and you can buy ticket from them on that site. You can use "Munich" as the start point, but it works better if you use "Venezia S. L." for the destination. Put in 1900 as the start time.
