Sky Europe checked baggage fees

I saw the posts below about Easy Jet baggage fees and decided to check out the deal for Sky Europe.

There is a sliding fee for checked bags for Sky Europe flights. We are flying from Dubrovnik to Vienna in a couple of weeks.

I made the reservations on the SkyEurope website months ago but there was nothing that indicated a fee for checked bags. After poking around our reservation I found the "Manage your flight" button and then found info about baggage. IT IS VERY EASY to miss this if you aren't looking for it specifically.

If you pay the fee via the website, it is 7 euros. If you do it over the phone it is 15 euros and 20 euros if you do it at the airport at check in. I just saved us about $40. THANKS to all of you for giving me the heads up.

After you select your flight on SkyEurope, and are then asked to input passenger information, you'll see a drop down box to the immediate right now clearly labelled "Bags to check in - Book now and save." That's where the information is listed about baggage check fees, etc. BUT be aware of the little check box between your name and the baggage box.....it is ALREADY CHECKED for an insurance subscription at 9 Euro. Make sure you UNCHECK that box if you don't want insurance.

Interesting, I never even noticed that option when I was booking my reservation. I have emailed the reservations address asking what the options are now that I have booked the flights and will post back when I get some information about it.

Thanks!

You can still pay for your luggage ahead of time and save money even if you have already made your reservation. If you have your confirmation number, you can go into your reservation and modify it.

Go to Manage Your Booking. Once you've gotten to the page w/your reservation, there is are buttons on the right hand side of the screen. Click on Passenger Change and you will get a screen that allows you to pay for your bags online for 7 euros each. It's very easy, just not obvious when you are making your reservation.

Good luck!

Thats good info Amy. I emailed Skyeurope about adding the option 2 check bags for our reservation and they told me it was too late and I would have to wait till we boarded.
I'll try using your suggestion.

It looks like you can do what Amy suggested and modify you booking, but it wants me to submit my credit card information again, and the entire flight (including airfair, tax, etc.) is listed.

Don't want to pay the whole thing over again!

You won't be charged twice. When I added the baggage charge, it showed the grand total, but only charged me the 14 euros for the bags.

Looks like that worked Amy! Thanks! I'll toast a beer to you in Prague with the 30 Euros I saved.

Funny the other person got the response that you cannot do what I just did!

Hello All- I am a bit confused. We already have our booking for June 16th. We have one carry on back pack per person- (nothing to check). If it falls into the 55 X 20 X 40, then I do not have to pay anything else, correct??

Yes, carry-on items if they fit the criteria are included with the fair I believe.

In our case our packs are too big for carry-on (well, at least mine is, my wife's might be able to squeeze in) so I have to check a bag.
