Hello,
I'm looking to buy a few train tickets ahead of time going from Siena to Florence. The June schedule shows direct trains most of the day that take about 1.5 hrs. The July schedule shows train/bus/train that takes at least 2 if not 3.5 hours. Does anyone know what is going on? Have they just not released the July schedule yet? Or should I look into alternative transportation?
Thank you!
What exact day for the train in July?
It has always been faster and more convenient to take the bus than the train:

Ah, thank you so much! I am looking at July 22nd.
It looks to me like scheduled track repairs, but I could not find a construction listing that included this on the same website. Certainly this happens, even on NYC subways and area commuter trains, if there is a tree across the line, as well as planned interruptions. Even highways have extra work in the summer.
oh that makes sense! Thank you so much. I just knew there had to be something going on. We will utilize the bus. Appreciate your help and insight very much!
These are anyway regional trains where buying tickets in advance is unnecessary and actually even unwise... For regional train services just buy tickets on the day itself, like you would with any other mass transit.
I second Jazz+Travels suggestion, which is also the recommendation in the RS guidebook, to take the bus. Very easy, and the bus station is a short, easy walk to the historic center of Siena.
The buses run from across the street from the train station--to the right of McDonalds.
They are quicker and take you into the center city. Trains drop you out on the edge of town where you would catch a taxi or city bus into the city center.
Thank you for your help everyone! We are set on the tickets we need. Appreciate everyone's insight.
