Sicily to Lisbon

Am I missing something? Trying to get from Catania to Lisbon for consecutive tours in April. If I book the two legs together, Catania to Rome to Lisbon, as one booking, it’s $425. If I book the two legs separately, Catania to Rome and then Rome to Lisbon it’s only $200. Is there consequences I’m not aware of to booking the two legs separately other than it’s Italia then TAP?

If you have separate bookings and your first flight is canceled, rescheduled or simply delayed on the day of travel, with the result that you miss the second flight, the cost of buying a new, last-minute ticket from Rome to Lisbon is on you. If the two flights are on a single ticket, you are protected against those scenarios.

Where are you looking for flights? I don't know what your travel date is, but I'm seeing some additional airline combinations on skyscanner.com. You have to click through on each routing to see whether it is a real connection (with the protection described above) or what skyscanner calls a "self-transfer", which seems to mean two individual tickets. It may be that there are no better options than you've already found.

There are a number of options for you. You could also fly Cantania to Barcelona and on to Lisbon on Vueling Airlines.

You'd just have to check the dates and see if the time on the ground is acceptable--not too long and not too short.
