staying in apt, rue de Levis(17e)& want to take a shuttle to Gare de Lyon. Could we just go to any hotel(suggested hotel ?) and use the shuttle they use?
You might find that the Paris metro can get you to Gare-de-Lyon just fine. I'm not aware that hotels have shuttles to the train stations.
Jackie,
I'm assuming you're referring to a Shuttle from CDG Airport? Using a Shuttle is certainly one option, but as Larry suggested the R.E.R. and Metro might also be good.
I don't know if you could just board a Shuttle to any Hotel and then just take the Metro from there. I've never heard of anyone doing that?
A few options to consider:
Check the France Guidebook, as it has information on the easiest transportation from the airport into Paris.
Google "Paris Airport Shuttles" and you'll have at least 10 pages of information on the various Shuttles.
Take the Roissy or Air France Buses from CDG into Paris, and then transfer to the Metro. I believe the Roissy Bus travels to the Opera Garnier, and there's a Metro station nearby. I can't recall the details on the Air France Bus.
Take the RER Line "B" from CDG to Chatelet Les Halles which is a "mega transfer station" (some walking will be required). Transfer to the Metro Line 14, direction Olympiades. From there it's pretty much a direct run to Gare de Lyon.
Good luck and happy travels!
Ken,
Jackie posted a different thread asking about a shuttle from CDG to Paris so I think here she is asking about a shuttle from her apartment to Gare de Lyon.
IMO, a taxi would make more sense than a shuttle for this trip. Or if you're packing light, take Metro line 3 from Malesherbes to St-Lazare. Transfer to Metro line 14 and take it to Gare de Lyon.
Thank you Tim, you are correct- we have already arranged for shuttle from CDG on arrival to apt. Since our checkout from apt is 10 ayem and our train not leave Paris until 08:25, we decided to have shuttle pick us up at apt, go to Gare de Lyon to store our 2 carryons (traveling Rick Steves' light), have 1 more day in Paris without our luggage
I think Tims's idea best. And figure we will be smarter about Metro travel after a few days in Paris.
since we will have time, will learn how to use Metro to Gare de Lyon, and maybe a taxi from Gare de Lyon to Bercy train station.
Tim & Jackie, thanks for the clarification. I wasn't sure of the meaning, so made an assumption.
Jackie, Happy travels!
Tim & Ken & all who tried to help - totally okay now
and the idea of being able to walk from Gare de Lyon to Bercy is great - will do
Jackie,
According to www.viamichelin.com, it's only 1km from Gare de Lyon to Gare de Bercy. If you're packing light, it shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes to walk from one station to the other. Or take Metro line 14 from Gare de Lyon one stop to Gare de Bercy. No need for a taxi.
