My family of five need to get to the Geneva airport from Chamonix. One shuttle company requires Swiss visas in order to transport us to the airport. Switzerland is not on our itinerary, so we don't have or intend to buy visas. Has anyone used a similar service without the visa requirement?
As an American, you don't need a visa to enter Switzerland...it's part of the Schengen zone. Does this shuttle company know you're Americans? If they do, time to look for another company
I don't know if they know we are American or not. The terms and conditions state that non EEC passport holders must obtain the visas. Since this company is recommended in my Rick Steves guidebook, I'll alert them as to this problem. Thanks for the advice.
They probably just want to make sure that people outside the Schengen area do their own work to make sure they have the proper visa.....it other words, it's not their responsibility. In a technical sense, you do get a "visa," which is your entry date stamp when you first arrive in Europe. But, yes, clarify this with them.
