Should I prebook tickets?

Hi Everyone,
I will be backpacking through Europe this coming fall and I was just wondering if the better option is to pre-book my train/plane tickets as I travel throughout the different countries? In terms of cost is there a difference in pre-booking or buying at the counter?
Thank you

depends which plane and which train but generally yes.

look at some of the trips you might make, on an official provider website, for tomorrow, 3 weeks out and 3 months out and see for yourself.

If depends a great deal on how fixed your schedule is. You probably will be using trains so prebooking could save some money via discounted ticket ---- BUT --- discount ticket come with lots of restriction starting with no refund, no change so if you change your plans or miss a train, etc., the discount ticket is just a piece of paper.
