Short Milan Stay

My wife and i will arrive in Milan July 1 of this year at 19:35 from Geneva. Our hotel is 10 minutes away by foot. We will be spending the night and heading to Rome the next day.

I'm curious if there is ample time to see Milan's city centre in the evening after 20:00 and/or in the morning the next day. Since checkout time at the Hotel Berna is 12:00, we thought we'd take advantage of what little time we have in Milan by waking up early on July 2 and seeing what we could.

Any suggestions as to if anything can be seen in the evening on July 1? Or is it better to rest up and see more the next morning?

Thanks for any suggestions.

If you make reservations ahead of time, you should be able to see the Last Supper in morning. After visiting the Last Supper, you can visit the Duomo (they have many services in the morning or you can just wander around).

For the evening, you can walk along the canals and enjoy a gelato. Also, the roof of the Duomo is open until 9pm (last entrance at 8:15pm).

If you have any extra time, the cemetery is definitely worth a trip. The tombstones are beautiful and unique. It was my favorite site in Milan.
