Thanks for the info.
I came across this video of an Airbus A380 landing in a cross wind yesterday in Düsseldorf. News article indicated that it was the same storm. Nervous fliers may not want to watch. A bit of a wild ride on landing.

Hopefully the storm has diminished.
It seems to be mostly in northern Germany, at least the effect on German trains. I'm going to be in southern Germany tomorrow, and the Bahn doesn't show any delays in that area. But that might affect our landing in Frankfurt.
I fell almost victim to the storm on Thursday when I arrived in Berlin just one hour before it started. The S-bahn stopped almost immediately and so did the double decker buses, which however resumed operating after a while - in contrast to the S-bahn. So the U-bahn and the buses were incredibly crowded, a literally breathtaking experience. My train back to Augsburg was scheduled through Hannover. Since that line was still closed today, after some confusion about which trains would really go the DB put me on a more direct train which has reached "safe territory" in the mean time (we've just left Nuremberg).
