Hi, I just bought some train tickets from Trenitalia (Florence-Paris and Paris-Milan), and I wanted to clarify something. I understand that with the self-service option, you need to find a self-service machine and use your PNR code and name to print your tickets out. Can I print out both of these tickets from the Firenze Santa-Maria Novella station? Also, I assume when I bought the tickets they included reservations? I ed C6 couchettes for both of them when I ordered them. I'm sorry if these are really obvious questions, but I'm traveling alone to Italy this summer and it's my first time in Europe, so I want to make sure I'm doing everything right.
Did you buy both tickets on Trenitalia or did you purchase on two different websites? If you purchased both on Trenitalia, you should be able to print out the tickets at any station with a ticket machine or at any Italian train station ticket window. I'm fairly certain that you can even hop on the train with just your email printout with the PNR number. The conductors are equipped with wireless PDAs and they can check your ticket and can even print out a receipt. For France, you will also need the credit card you used to purchase the ticket. Most likely you will need to go to a ticket window as their ticket machines are now chip and pin and the U.S. credit cards may not work.
http://www.roninrome.com/%20transportation/booking-on-the-trenitalia-website RonInRome.com is a wealth of information! This particular page will probably answer everything you need to know, and then some LOL! There are several links to different pages on his site ("How to Buy Tickets", "How to Use the Self-Service Ticket Machines", etc.) and if you can't find the answer to your questions there, you don't need to be asking those questions ;-)
