Select pass for four countries?

We're going on a ski trip in Janury,February 2011 - landing in Munich, overnight in Innsbruck, then on up to Zurs/Lech. From there we go to Courchevel in France, but have to go through Geneva. Finally, we'll be going back to Geneva, and flying to Amsterdam from there.

I've been unable to get actual train fares from most of the train sites (because I don't like Rail Europe - they've just screwed up too many times with extended trip reservations), and I'm wondering if it wouldn't be easier just go get two Select Saver Passes. $840 per person seems like a lot.

Thoughts?

Given that you can get all the way across Switzerland (plus a bit of Austria) from Innsbruck to Geneva for 142 CHF, that $840 is way more than you'd pay with tickets.

You can find the fares on sbb.ch and bahn.de as Steve says. Just don't try to use your February dates; use something about a month from now. They won't change much, if at all.

Am I missing something. Nowhere do I find a 4 country, select Saver pass at $840 per person. How many days?

First, for one, you can drop Germany from the railpass and save almost $25 per person.

Instead of having Germany on the pass, buy a Bayern-Ticket (~$19 pP) and go via Mittenwald to the Austrian border. It would be nice if you could pay p-p fares (~14 pP) from Mittenwald to Innsbruck and drop a day, but, since $840 didn't translate into a number of days, I don't know if you could drop just one.

Secondly, an Austrian Regional Express, REX, takes about an hour longer from Innsbuck to St. Anton then does an ICE or Railjet. By taking the REX, you could use an Einfach Raus ticket, €28 for two on regional trains, and save another rail pass day.

In fact, if you could use regional trains from St. Anton to the Swiss border, you could save another country (and $$).

I'm done with the mere mention of a pass. DieBahn is the greatest and I'll do everything through their precise, reliable site.

Thanks everyone.
