I'm writing this email on the bus to Segovia... Using the bus's WIFI. But I didn't start from Principe Pio. The bus now goes only from Moncloa. Hope this saves someone else the extra metro fare and gets them to Segovia a bit sooner. BTW, Rick's guide says the buses run twice per hour. That's an approximation. There are 35+ on weekdays (some direct, others quite local), with fewer on weekends.
just curious as to why you did not take the train from Madrid to Segovia?
So easy and enjoyable to take the train in my experience.
Rick's Guide to Spain discusses 3 options. Cercanias, slow; train, fast but the train stations in both madrid and segovia are far from town centers; and the bus, which is slower than the train, but easily accessed in both towns. I chose the bus because my schedule was uncertain, and there are frequent busses.
Thanks for your answer, I understand your reasoning.
I admit I am prejudiced in favor of trains!I
FYI for the train lovers. I took the subway from Puerto del Sol, where I was staying to the Chamartin train station. About 10 minutes, as I recall by subway to Chamartin station which has AVE and regional trains to Segovia.
