Rick's "european headlines" mentioned something I hadn't heard of before--30 min. security / check in procedures for TGV's. I've never used TGV or Thalys, but will have to on my Oct. trip. I've always loved the speed and ease of European train connections(10 min. usually plenty). I also love walking into a station with a railpass and just hopping on the next train to where I want to go. If connecting to TGV or Thalys, should I plan longer windows? How long, and what all is involved? X-rays, dogs, hand searches, having to turn on electronics?
Unless TGV has just started some brand new new security screening system I'm not aware of, the article is incorrect. There is no security or check-in procedure at TGV or Thalys. There is a security screening for Eurostar trains though.
Agree with Michael.
The TGV is a joy. Have fun!
It was probably referring to Eurostar. The author may not known that TGV and Eurostar are operated by different entities.
