Seattle to Paris in June on Air France

I know air fares have been a topic before but I'm getting crazy checking every day for a lower price. We need to go non stop because we are both not good flyer's so to date the price for the two of us is $3900. Should I buy now or wait? The paper last weekend said as a result of the open sky's change they thought prices would come down, yet others say costs will go up in 2008. I would just like to hear some of your opinions.
Thanks.

Travelling non stop is definitely going to limit you...and you're in the high season as well. If you can't put up with a stop on your way, then maybe consider Air Transat from Vancouver to London, then Eurostar to Paris. Air Transat, which flies into Gatwick, is offering late June (return early July) trips for about $1100 per person. Use a search engine like kayak.com to keep an eye on all the specials going on. But with oil prices still rising, I don't think you'll see airfares falling anytime soon.

Consider flying air ZOOM out of vancouver, rates are pretty good.

Thanks so much, I should have said we need to leave June 3 and return July 6th. I've looked at all these and it just seems that when you factor in, A)can't get a flight on the day we need and so will send more on hotel in Paris for an extra day or two or B) cost of Eurostar and or other costs of getting from places like London or Amsterdam we are only looking at saving maybe 2 or 3 hundred and at our age this seems a fare price for a non stop flight. I am anxious to see what others think about this. We could gather our courage for a 1 stop but we'd need to save more than a few hundred dollars to make it worth it.

The lowest from Seattle right now, with stops, is about $1450 pp and probably won't get much lower...so if $500 pp is OK for a non-stop for you, then take it now. Air Transat at $2200 total, one night at Ibis Gatwick on the way back at $120, two round trip Eurostar tickets at $310 total..under $2650 total....save $1250...just add in whatever it cost you to get to Vancouver.

Air France is currently the only airline that will fly direct from SEA to CDG (Paris). So if you must fly direct, you will be limiting yourself.
You could fly direct into London and take the Eurostar in. British Airways does this flight, and there may be another airline running this route by June (Air France???).

Last year I did Seattle to Amsterdam to CDG on Northwest/KLM. The flight from Amsterdam to Paris is only about 1.5 hours and the Amsterdam airport is easy to get around. Had some friends who came over Seattle to Copenhagen to Paris on SAS. In June, Northwest will start flying non-stop to London and is cheaper than British Air if you decide to do the London route. I hate to fly so I understand where you are coming from. I wouldn't wait too much longer. I bought my ticket to Dublin in October and now it is $300 more.

People on another travel forum (Fodors) are talking about the new NW flight from Seattle to London. RT tickets for departures in June (before June 30) with return more than 8 days later are $667.

For that price you could fly to London, overnight there, and take the Eurostar to Paris the next day, all for $1000 each or less.

Thanks for all your help. I checked Air France this morning, leaving June 3 coming back July 6th and it is $4028! for two people. I hope Bill Gates enjoys the flight. We'll be doing a stop over. There was a flight from Vancouver BC to Amsterdam then to Paris for $2680! We'll deal with it.

Hi Mary.....This may be a little off the topic , but I, too, keep checking websites for flight deals and it makes one nuts. Odd ly enough and some food for thought, a neighbor who talks travel with me mentioned that it is often cheaper to look on airline websites instead of places like travelocity. So, my husband and I are going to France at the end of September for a month and , of course , the flights are sky high and then I noticed that Delta has flights for for 50,000 sky miles and they are usually 2 or 3 times that. To make a long story short we used our sky miles and got two free flights to Paris- round trip!!! Now that's a deal!!!

I just checked kayak.com and you can book on Continental (with one layover in the US), booked on Continental's site, for $1441/pp to Paris.
It's a bit more than the Vancouver flight, but you'd save the money in getting to BC.
You may also want to sign up for Air France's Flying Blue club so that you could get any emails of fare sales that would be upcoming.

Norm, not all Zoom flights stop in Calgary, mine stops in Toronto and then finishes in Paris. I could have chosen one that that stopped in Calgary though, and not Toronto, but dates and times were wrong. You just have to play with the site.

Mary,
I just purchased 3 tickets Seattle to London for $700 each incl. taxes on NW airlines. It won't get any cheaper than that. The key is a maximum stay of 30 days. You could take the eurostar over to Paris. This would be a considerable savings over your $3900 price. Good luck and dont' wait if you want to take advantage of that fare.

P.S. Yes this was in June returning July. It's a direct non-stop out of Seattle at 10pm. When you check NW online specify the 10pm time and check the flexible schedule box. Good luck.
