Seat reservation for TGV ticket from SNCF website?

Hi-
I purchased a Paris-Blois ticket from the SNCF website. It's a prems fare ticket and I chose "print the ticket yourself".

When I was making the selection, I clicked on the "chosir ma place" button and it came back "no places available". So does that mean I have purchased an invalid ticket, because there is no seat assignment? Or will the computer automatically assign me a seat? Or do I have to go to the ticket office at the station to get a seat assignment? Or.....?

Thanks.

Did you print the ticket? If so, look for carriage and seat numbers. They should be printed on the ticket.

No, I haven't printed yet because I was afraid I would lose the printed ticket. Can I print more than once?

It sounds like you are saying that the system will just automatically assign me a seat?

Thanks,

Andrea

Yes on both counts! The system will assign you a seat and you can print the ticket as many times as you wish.

Hi Andrea

I have gone to the SNCF rail site and can't figure it out how do you get to the point when you can purchase online and print out a ticket?

thanks

Kelly,

Prem's tickets can be self-printed, but others must either be picked up at a station or mailed to an address in France. What is your route and what is the date you will be traveling?

There are two routes from Paris to Amboise. Corail trains depart from Gare d'Austerlitz and go directly to Amboise (no changes). TGVs go from Gare Montparnasse to St-Pierre-des-Corps from where you would have to take a connecting train to Amboise.

The Prem's fare for the direct Corail train is €10 and your travel time is about the same as taking a TGV plus a connecting train. Go to www.voyages-sncf.com and click on the "Train" tab (between the "Accueil" and "Hotel" tabs) at the top of the page. On the new page click anywhere in the long URL in the browser field at the very top of the screen. Find LANG=FR and change it to LANG=UK. Hit the Enter key and you'll get a booking page in English. Leave France as the default country for retrieving your tickets and do NOT choose cancellation insurance. You should be able to complete the booking and print the ticket yourself. To have the best chance of getting a Prem's fare, book as soon as the three-month advance window opens.
