The Man in Seat Sixty-One no longer endorses overnight train travel between Paris and Venice/Rome due to frequent complaints about "timekeeping, cleanliness, onboard service and the food service", instead suggesting either daytime travel from Paris to Milan with a night in a hotel, or daytime travel via Switzerland with a hotel stay there.
Thanks Philip for the info and for reminding me about this good resource!
was just on the florence to paris night train in a private compartment....
what I can say is the bathroom was a mess and the service NON existent. they did not make up anyone's beds into seating. We asked adn the guy said he would be right back never did....saw him at the end of the train sitting there. We figured it out ourselves.
I walked at one point closer to the end of the trip and I saw many people sitting on their beds bending their heads because no one would put up their beds.
it was an experience.
Thank you for your terrific website. The detailed info and photos are most helpful!
