Sea-Tac Airport

Question for those of you who frequent Sea-Tac Airport. We just realized we have a short one-hour connection at the airport, flying in from Medford, Oregon on Delta; and flying out on Delta an hour later to Amsterdam. Supposedly we land at B4 and leave from A12. I know sometimes taking a tram is necessary.
We are wondering if we should take a much earlier flight to Sea-Tac.

I would take an earlier flight if one is available. You will not have to use the shuttle going from B to A BUT A12 is all the way at the end of the A gates. I will also tell you I’ve had a fairly last minute (about 90 minutes ahead) gate change with Delta from A to S (South) but also from S to A.

I transit thru arriving from Spokane. I prefer 90 minutes but feel most comfortable with a bit more.

Editing to add: Plus if you have more time you can get a piece of the best coconut cake ever at Floret which is near A1, lol.

Joe & Pam: Thank you both! You're the best.

Joe: The map of the airport is very helpful. IF the plane lands on time, we should make it with a few minutes to spare!

Pam: We just called to see if we could have an earlier flight (5:40 a.m) out of Medford, but...we would have had to change our whole itinerary, and go to CDG instead of Schipol. I don't understand.
But...on our way home we have a 9 hour layover (flight change) and I may have time for 2 pieces of coconut cake.
Did I mention that the flight is tomorrow?!

Carol, hope for the best! If the gate stays in A & B, you should be okay.

I just landed there a few days ago from Amsterdam, and they changed my outgoing gate from B to S which requires the tram ride. I have the Delta app & TripIt giving me up-to-date gate changes.

Jean,
Good to know. Thanks for reminding us to check Gates on Delta App.
We originally had a slightly longer connection time, but Delta adjusted their flight times.

We’ve run through that airport one too many times. Are you seated near the front on your flight out of Medford? Let the flight attendant know you have a very tight connection. And make sure you have the Delta app in case they change gates. We’ve had the boards say one thing while the App has the correct gate info (two weeks ago). Good luck and have a great trip!

Are you seated near the front on your flight out of Medford?

A half full 76 seat plane, its not a real issue where one is sitting, for an expeditious exit.

Margie, Yes we are seated near the front of the plane (row 6) and we'll be sure to mention our tight connection to the flight attendant. The main thing that might slow us down...is a detour to the restroom. Darn.

Pam: I'll try to remember to report from the plane. If we don't make it, I'll console myself with a slice of coconut cake.

SEA can be a real mess, but that is an easy walk between the A and B gates. No tram needed. Is this on one ticket?

KGC: Yes, 9 hours wait for return flight. Not sure what we’ll do. We’ve been to Seattle many times starting with college.

If you leave the airport, just be sure to be back there with plenty of time for security. If you have Pre/Clear/Global, that helps, or make an appt for Spot saver. Otherwise you are at the mercy of possibly ungodly long lines. I have Clear/Global and still allow 3 hours for overseas flights here, FWIW. You are ahead of cruise season, which is good, but SEA itself can be an absolute mess.

Mainly @ Pam who wanted an on-plane response.
We made it with lots of time. Everything was in our favor. Landed at A11 and will depart from A12.
I couldn’t even get in a good walk, so decided to search for Floret and the best coconut cake according to Pam.
Walked as far as A3…then husband said boarding began, so will have to delay my gratification for the coconut cake.
Thank you all who responded to my last minute question.
Joe, I especially appreciated the map. I’m such a visual learner. Thanks!

"Everything was in our favor. Landed at A11 and will depart from A12."

Oh my gosh! Awesome! I hope that is a precursor for your whole trip going exactly or better than planned, lol!! If you hadn't walked as far as A3 I think your longest walk would have been to the nearby bathroom on that end of the terminal.

Happy travels and yes, thank you so much for updating!
