Scotland Rental Car

Hi!

My family and I are traveling to Scotland for the first time and plan on renting a car to drive around the country. I have been researching rental cars and I’ve noticed that when I look at the U.S. companies (Hertz, etc.) websites to book they are substantially cheaper than booking through a local Scottish company (Celtic Legends, etc.) website for the same vehicles/rental dates. Is there something I’m missing? If I book via the U.S. website will I have costs added to the rental price when I get to Scotland?

I’d appreciate any input on this subject.

Thanks!
Annie

I'm guessing that the locals have CDW/'Super Cover' included with the quote since it's not as common in Eurpoe for people to have rental car insurance there through a credit card.

We've rented through the US web sites for UK and German rentals, and while the clerk has done the usual upsell at the counter, we just say we get CDW/Super Cover through our credit card (we use the Amex supplemental coverage that runs $15-$25 per rental rather than a per day rate) and have paid the price as quoted by the Hertz USA or Budget USA web site.
